According to the Saudi Alzheimer’s Disease Association, nearly 130,000 people in Saudi Arabia are currently affected by Alzheimer’s disease (AD), with numbers expected to double by 2050. Globally, dementia strikes one person every 3 seconds, and one in three elderly individuals dies due to AD or related forms of dementia.
This project addresses the critical challenge of Alzheimer’s detection using MRI scans. While recent research has successfully applied deep learning (DL) to classify AD, our team proposes a lightweight DL model optimized for accurate and efficient binary classification of AD versus healthy controls.
